The 6.5mm caliber coming to the AR15 is the result of years of development and testing beginning in 1998 to produce an intermediate size cartridge for the AR15 platform delivering performance meeting or exceeding the 7.62 NATO (.308 Winchester) and do so with less recoil. The superior ballistics and external dimensions of 6.5mm projectiles came to together with the famed PPC (Palmisano Pindell Cartridge) case to create an ideal multi-use cartridge for the AR15 that can exceed the performance of many 7.62 NATO loadings
The 6.5 mm caliber has a wide range of bullet options available from Nosler, Lapua, Sierra, Norma, Hornady, Swift and Barnes ranging from 85 grain HP through the 144 FMJBT - all of which can be used in magazine length AR15 loads delivering outstanding performance for competition, hunting or professional use. |
